Jerry Springer : Rot in Hell

There is much about the US and even more about American television that I despise. I would even go so far to say that I think TV is evil and is becoming the downfall of our society, but Jerry Springer is a breed of evil all on his own. How the US public does not see that his sole purpose and the purpose of his show is to make fun of lower class America, only tells me they are desperate for a laugh.

He generally takes uneducated people from low income backgrounds and puts them against each other in a way that I find beyond despicable. Now you may argue that these people have agreed to be on the show, but the fact that they agree only shows there ignorance and naïve nature. It is nothing more than his intention to show badly groomed, overweight individuals, mainly female, tearing each others clothes off to the amusement of an audience that obviously have no dignity or self respect, all chanting various degrading things. His intent is to show naked body parts, or in the case of the men to show a low level macho persona. Any intelligent, compassionate person would be insulted by how he objectifies others for the sake of his pathetic materialistic needs.

The unfortunate person on stage will be asked various questions at which time the audience will snicker at the response. For instance where they work, if it happens to be at a fast food chicken chain, this is somehow amusing to all. If they mispronounce a word Mr. Springer can be seen snickering and will correct them. They all seem to live in trailers which apparently are funny as well. Making fun of those less fortunate is what Jerry Springer is all about. Most of his guests are clearly from small towns in the south, where perhaps their way of living differs than other more rural parts of the US.

I find his mocking nature with guests quite amusing since he has become by his actions the epitomes of the very “trailer trash” he enjoys poking fun at. The saddest part of this is that he has a handicapped daughter who he apparently adores and who is the backbone of his life, so I find it ironic that he makes his living poking fun at those less fortunate.

Sit in your mansion Mr. Springer, and know that here in Canada we find you to be a disgusting joke, with no redeemable qualities, who has contributed absolutely nothing to television.
