Going
Backwards
I
have always been in a state of disbelief over the affairs
of the world. Where most people can go through life in their
own square world where happiness is defined merely by their
content existence, I have found myself feeling troubled
and filled with despair for as long as I can recall. So
I carry on, write poetry, stay well informed, live in fear.
I
feel it is safe to say the world is going backwards, and
in doing so is headed for disaster. Does this make me a
pessimist? Hardly, I am a realist, and more importantly,
my eyes are wide open. What I see is a world caving in,
whether from a political aspect, ecological aspect or religious
aspect.
We
are destroying our environment at an alarming rate. The
heat, the volitile storms, is all an effect of too many
gases being trapped in the atmosphere thereby heating otherwise
cool oceans, which is causing all the inclement weather.
The government has known about this for years, been shown
graphs and charts but since cleaning up the world means
putting life before profit, needless to say things have
only gotten worse.
It
seems while we sit in relative comfort the rest of the world
is reaching a peak of fighting. Long forgotten is the reason
why, in the year and time of technology, with all the advancement
we have made, where countries should be working together
to create a world where all people live healthy, happy,
with freedom to choose, instead we alienate countries thereby
pushing things into a past best forgotten. It is easy to
judge warring nations, remember most are born into it. Dont
most people just want to live their lives, happy and content?
Yet here we are in 2006, wars erupting everywhere, innocent
lives lost, terrorists defying the very governments that
have also fallen into ruin. Woman are second-class citizens,
the goddess is dying.
Everything
is a profit machine, even Buddhism. If you cannot have honest
faith, you can purchase some enlightenment, along with a
free tee shirt thrown in.
This
is likely why I ABHOR celebrity gossip and fashion TV and
the Hollywood mentality that has taken over North America.
It reeks of surrealism and decadence. There is nothing wrong
with earning money and wanting a chunk of the better life,
but when what you have, what you have amassed in a material
way, what you wear and how close you are to perfect on some
scale concocted by man, is the essence of a society, then
things must change.
We
are a society of judgmental crybabies, workaholics and money
machines, lamenting over losing ten pounds and what fashionable
trinket we simply must have, while all around us our world
is awash in absolute confusion.

I
just read Viki's submission on Shebytches.com and all I
could do was stop, breathe, and whisper "Wow"
to myself.
She has great talent. You know you've got something when
you can say so much with each sentence. There's a great
deal of depth there.
I feel really meditative right now...From simply reading
her post.
I'm literally in awe and it's so cool!
I love when that happens!! ;)
