Tim Horton's

If 1 out of 9 Tim Horton’s coffee cups is a winner, then why haven’t I won anything yet?

I am a little annoyed at this whole contest. Not just because I haven’t won anything, but because they make it sound like it’s my fault. I am not the one choosing the cup that my coffee goes into, and as such I am not responsible for my defeat. All I’m asking for is a little help here. I don’t expect every cup to be a winner, but to have three coffees a day and not once roll up a prize? Come on, what the hell?

Perhaps if I threatened to switch to Country Style I’d see some results. They claim that every one of their cups is a winner. As I can’t stand their coffee, I haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, but I’m almost frustrated enough to try it. Almost.

Contests are stupid. The fact that I’ve devoted so much of my time to trying to win a free coffee both upsets and disturbs me. Do I need a free coffee? No! I have enough money to buy as much as I want. It’s the fact that they look so damn smug each time I go in, like they know I haven’t won anything and lots of other people have. I think there may be two piles of cups behind the counter; the winning ones and the ‘others’ that they save for people like me. They know I’m going to buy their coffee anyhow, so why bother trying to win me over or lure me in with the enticement of free stuff?

I’d love to continue my tirade against the coffee man, but it’s still early in the day and I need another coffee. Maybe this time…
