Six Strong Puppies

Imagine your eight years old and your Daddy brings you home a Beagle puppy. He tells you the story of how he chose the cutie you are about to love and spoil and play with. He tells you that there was six puppies all together and that five of them now had loving homes. You ask your Daddy what will happen to the other puppy but he says he doesn’t know.

Now imagine being that last puppy, all your brothers and sisters are gone. You are the only one left behind, you are confused, sad and lonely, until one day a nice man comes to pick you up. You assume, you are going to a home with a little boy or girl, who is going to play with you.

Like all the other puppies you are transported in a dog carrier, but unlike the other dogs you don’t go to a home, instead you are taken to a lab, where you will be subjected to excruciating tests. Tests that certain industries feel are necessary to make their products saleable.

As you sit helpless and neglected in your cage you begin to feel, sad, lonely, depressed, wary of anyone that comes near you, as the only feelings you receive when you are around humans are that of pain. One day you notice a strange lady, who starts paying attention to you, talking to you and bringing you treats. She is unlike the others, she is kind and gentle and looks at you with great sadness. When the others aren’t looking she takes pictures and secretly video tapes their actions, catching the cruel and unnecessary things they do to you.

You still so small, only 6 months old now, all you want to do is run around and play, except you can’t do that in a 3 x 3 cage. A cage that is getting smaller as each day passes. Each time you are returned to your cage you fight harder and harder to not be put in, this resulting in being thrown, having your head slammed in the door and being punched in the face. Each time this happens you look for the nice lady to help you, but she is no longer to be seen. But don’t fret, she is still helping you, but no longer from inside the test lab. She has taken the pictures, information and video and has given it to people who will make a difference, so puppies like you no longer have to suffer.

Let’s flip the coin now and change the story up a bit, now instead of six puppies, we have six humans. Six humans that have scarificed so Beagle puppies like the one I just mentioned above, will no longer need to suffer or be abused.

Repeat these names after me, burn them into your head, remember them each time you hear of animal abuse, test labs being broken into, animals being liberated and every time you buy a product that doesn't have a not tested on animals label on it.

Who are these six people? They are Shak7 and they are my hero’s.

I grew up with Beagles. It is the only dog my Father would have. They are smart and loving and gentle. Who would EVER want to harm one. The second they look at you with their big brown eyes and floppy ears you are in love. The second I read about the way they are abused in test the labs I was brought to tears. How could you ever mistreat such a gentle creature, how could you mistreat any creature? One very specific test lab did just that and that is where Shak 7 starts.

Not only are these incredible six people serving time in prison, for their dedication and bravery they have been labelled ‘Terrorist’. How is that possible? How is it possible that they be labelled in such a way? All they tried to do is shut down a corporation that was inflicting pain on helpless creatures. All they did was try to make the world aware that this abuse has to stop. They never killed anyone. They didn’t destroy buildings. They didn’t attempt to assassin the president. They didn’t invade a country. They didn’t blow up buildings killing women and children. So how is it they are terrorists? Because the messed up US legal system says so.

This label means nothing to them. They are proud of what they have done and I wouldn’t doubt that they will be right back at it as soon as they are released. In the meantime what can you do? Become aware of what is really happening out there. Stop violence. Shout out loud. Protest. Write letters. Become a nuisance in the faces of those who continue to test on animals. SUPPORT SHAK7!
