"TAXI"

Imagine this; your alarm clock goes off. It’s 2 a.m. and you’re waking up to start the day by picking up, not one of your fellow co-workers, but a cup of coffee and a stranger to chauffeur them to wherever their destination.

You are a taxi cab driver and like nobody else, you get in your car to go to work and stay there all day long.

First things first, if I thought sitting in a chair in front of a computer for eight hours was hard enough for my ass, these guys must have hemorrhoids the size of golf balls.

I’m not going to go off on these guys. I have a lot of respect for them. Think about it, how many other people would really want to put up with half the stuff these guys go through?

Example one:

A friend of mine was recently taken to court for assaulting a cab driver. I can’t side on the situation because I wasn’t there. But I know my friend and when he’s drunk, he doesn’t liked to be bothered. If you could even believe the rants he yells out when ever he sees a taxi drive by only because of this one time he got in a dispute. He doesn’t respect cab drivers.

Example two:

One time, I was coming home in a cab with my friend and after we got out, she kicked the bumper of the car. Again, another drunk related issue. But it wasn’t the first or last time she did something like this. She made it a habit. And if she wasn’t kicking the cab, she was spitting on it. She doesn’t respect cab drivers.

Example three:

Me. I was leaving my friend’s party because I was completely intoxicated and knew I had to get home soon or I would be sick. Well, I didn’t get home soon enough because I had to get the cab driver to pull over not once, not twice, but three times. The poor man… I’m laughing right now because he felt so bad for me and kept saying the entire time, "You’re a strong woman." I couldn’t have been that strong at the time because I couldn’t keep the vomit down.

So, you see… cab drivers are put through a lot. I could mention other situations that don’t involve alcohol, but it’s probably the ‘just’ of all their grief.

The dreadful night shift and all the drunkards that come with it.

Next time, do me a favour. Don’t tip your bartender. Tip your cab driver!!!
