Return
to Sender
So
far, the year of 2006 has been fabulous. Although, its
only been a little over a week, Ive been off to a
fresh start with new jobs and like how everything is panning
out, everything except for a few minor glitches.
It
was a few weeks back when I realized that I still hadnt
received my GST check. Since moving from my old place at
Humber College, I had changed my address with all the appropriate
places. For example, my bank, my cell phone company and
the Government. Well, I thought I did anyway.
So,
my boyfriend contacted my old roommate and she informed
him that her new roommate put "return to sender"
on both of our pay checks. So, Im assuming the new
roommate carelessly put them in the lobby of our old condo
for the mailman and all other eyes to see.
Well,
fortunately my boyfriend received his check, but I had not.
After contacting the Public Works and Government Services
Canada, I found out that some person had cashed my check.
All
I can ask at this moment is, "Who in the right mind
would ever think it was a good idea to do this and think
they could get away with it?" Im sure it happens
quite often with personal checks, but this is a different
circumstance.
After
speaking with the Government, they informed me that they
would be sending me a duplicate of the check to review.
And when I came back from up North after the Christmas holidays,
the package had already arrived.
So,
some idiot signed it. And not only did they forge my signature,
but they also deposited the check in to their own CIBC branch.
How idiotic and easy it will be now to track down the person
when their account number is on the statement.
My
GST check doesnt have a great deal of money on it,
but its worth the effort of going down to Canada Revenue
Agency to have all this figured out. And its worth
the effort to teach this thief a valuable lesson.
