But I don’t even know you…

One of my biggest pet peeves is rude people. I don’t understand where these people get off. How can someone you don’t even know piss you off or be so rude that it ruins your night? I just don’t get it.

I was coming home on the TTC train after having a great evening out with two of my favourite people. We were laughing and joking around, having a great end to our night.

It was a long ride back to the end of the line. We were one stop away from the Kipling station when the TTC train driver barged through the doors of the cart, scaring the shit out of the three of us.

He then looked at me and asked, "How old are you?" Confused I answered, "Twenty-one." He replied. "Then act your age."

Shocked and speechless, my friends started questioning the man. "What the hell kind of a question is that?" One said. And the other, "Who do you think you are talking to her like that?"

It turned out that the man was pissed off at me for putting my foot up on the train bench, but still, seriously… Come on! I let my friends go at it with him and just sat back stunned, watching and thinking about how wrong it was for him to come out at me like that.

One- We didn’t even know the guy for him to be so------------ blatantly ignorant.

Two- Maybe someone pissed him off earlier, just maybe, (and I think this was the reason
for the explosion) but it’s not right to yell at people like that, no matter what the situation.

It was only moments before the event took place, when I was reading one of the posters up in the subway station.

Harold to the Rescue…TTC Driver Harold Simpson saved an old man by taking him to the hospital…blah…blah…blah…

I couldn’t believe it. Yes, I agree. There are plenty on TTC workers with good manners, but this one in particular was the biggest asshole ever.

Like everyone else that pays $2.25 to ride the train, I think I deserve respect and should be treated as fairly as everyone else. I didn’t know that putting my foot up wasn’t part of the price. I’m innocent... I swear…
