Service
anyone? Yes please!
This
past weekend, my boyfriend and I decided to go on a Pre-Valentines
Day dinner at No Name Grille & Bar located at the Woodbine
Mall.
Again,
customer service has failed for me, but at this particular
place it has happened more than once. Living in Rexdale means
a limited variety of luxurious restaurants.
Lets see here
of course, there are fast-food restaurants
like Burger King, McDonalds and Harveys in walking
distance from my condo, but I dont eat that crap. Plus!
On this occasion, I wouldnt want to be taken to one
of these fried junk eateries.
So,
we walked in around 7:30ish. And like the sign said, "Please
wait to be seated", we waited. Seeing how there are two
entrances to the restaurant, I decided to poke my head around
the corner to look for the hostess. She saw me, but ignored
us. Disregarding the fact of this, my b/f and I walked down
to the bar to take a seat.
The
hostess walked up to us, "Would you like to be seated?"
We are already sitting you idiot, but yes, away from the
bar would be better, I thought.
We
followed her up to a more private location away from the screaming
children and tired parents coming in from the Fantasy Fair.
Sitting
down, menu less
we waited for a server. And waited and
waited. I was getting frustrated. However, my b/f and I have
both been in the restaurant industry, so Id like to
believe we are more forgiving than most customers.
When
she arrived with are menus, it didnt take long for us
to decide on our drinks. Okay, getting drinks shouldnt
take one long to retrieve and when she came back, she forgot
mine. "Oh, smoothies take a bit longer to make."
Are you kidding me?
Then,
we ordered escargot for our appetizer. Upon arrival, we requested
side plates. "No problem," she said. But, there
must have been a problem because the waitress kept walking
by us. When, she saw us looking at her, she disappeared again
and came back empty handed. Two plates took ten minutes to
get to us and it was the manager, who had noticed that we
were waiting and asked if we needed anything, that brought
them, not our server.
Is
it really that hard to ask for good service when you go out
to eat? Thats why people go out right? I mean, would
it have been easier for the staff, if we went in the back
and helped ourselves to our meal.
This
wasnt the worst service experience Ive had at
this restaurant, but I have added it to the list of many.
I wont be returning.
