Segments Blew Torontos Second Snow Storm Way out of
Proportion
Call
me a hick for growing up in the Ottawa Valley, a place where
high school kids drove their snowmobiles to class,
but Thursday nights snow fall was not as big of a
deal as they made of it on Friday nights newscasts.
I
didnt get to watch the news that night because I had
to work at 6 p.m. However, I was watching Oprah,
when the commercials for the news came on and they were
complaining "Was Toronto Ready?"
Honestly,
snow falling is not a natural disaster and the reporter
on the segment was making the storm seem like it was the
next Katrina.
Yes,
when it snows, it can cause the city problems that county
people dont have to deal with, such as, driving because
I find that most city people dont know how to drive
well in the weather. Also, theres not that many places
to put all the snow in the city.
However,
it really shocks me how Torontonians get freaked out by
all the inches of snow. Its white and fluffy. Not
hailing ice pellets. And to have the 6 oclock news
rant and rave about how the city wasnt prepared enough
for the snow is ludicrous.
Back
home, if it snowed too much and the snow plow didnt
make it through the streets yet, people would just wait
until it was plowed and would then go to work. I know in
the city, we wouldnt be able to get away with not
showing up to work, but why not? Why do we always have to
rush, rush, rush everywhere?
Anyways,
all I can say to Toronto is relax, enjoy the weather, go
snowshoeing or skating, drink some hot chocolate and get
used to the snow because this weeks weather forecast
is predicting a lot more of it.

"Oh,
the weather outside is frightful
But
the fire is so delightful
And
since we've no place to go
Let
It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
It
doesn't show signs of stopping
And
I've bought some corn for popping
The
lights are turned way down low
Let
It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!"
