I
was given a topic to write about, but I have changed my mind.
I have something much better than telling you how I don't celebrate
Easter. So, strap in kiddies! I saw this ad for Botox.
You know, the poison women inject into their foreheads to "erase"
lines and wrinkles? Botox doesn't really erase lines,
it actually paralyzes the muscles so that wrinkles won't form.
Is that safe?
Think about it. You're injecting yourself with a powerful toxin
so that you won't have wrinkles? There is a good chance that
you will develop some type of disease from it. Oh, but the doctors
who advocate using this method instead of coming to terms with
your age and wearing your wrinkles with pride can't tell you
exactly what it might do to you. Just that it might. But
my, don't you look years younger. What's that? Speak up honey,
I can't hear you. Oh, goodness, you can't speak? Here write
it down then. Oh, you can't write. Hmm. I'm leaving you then.
Got carried away there. The model used for
this print ad is about 25, and she's peering into one of those
tiny mirrors that are normal magnification on one side, and
twice as strong on the other. She's pushing
these lines into her face so that we will think that it's good
she's going to get those lines removed. But sheƒs only 25! I'm
28 and I have a few lines around my eyes from squinting. I refuse
to pump crap into myself to try and look younger. How stupid
is that? I challenge all of you to stop and think
about what you put on your face to try and look younger.
I believe in treating yourself well and taking care of your
skin without
using chemical treatments to correct your skin's natural aging.
This is my belief and I stick to it. Granted, some might say
it's easy for me to say these things because I am 28, but I
remind you of the all the Britney Spears and J Lo people out
there who try to affect my sense of well being. As a woman I
try to remind my self that I will age, I will have wrinkles
and grey hair. I hope as I get older I keep to my values and
age gracefully. If the media doesnƒt brainwash me first.
