Wife's
Requiem
By Caroline Blaha-Black
I
watch the rain batter my on window panes
Drops drum the steady beat inside my soul.
Today's the first time that her hazelnut coffee doesn't
permeate the place
And lonely darkness fills this space
In the midnight hour.
She
wanted to go.
I loved her so,
Her brown locks all covered in blood are staining the sofa,
Skin scented in lavender mixing with the smell of decomposing
flesh.
And
moon chuckles at my deeds
And drives a wagon full of dreams
Dreams of her and me.
She'll
never leave now.
