One
Less Angel
We
need more angels on earth. We live in a cold, bitter
world filled will selfish humans. Its a sad
fact, but painfully true. For the most part people come
and go, but once in while someone will make a life long
impression that not only affects the individuals they have
touched but many people around this world. I have
seen some of these people throughout my life. Mother
Theresa, Princess Diana and Audrey Hepburn to name a few.
Each one of them ripped away from us way too soon.
Their work not yet completed.
On
March 8, 2006 another very special angel was taken from
us, an angel by the name of Dana Reeve. Not only was
she an angel, she was a mother, step mother and superwoman.
She sacrificed her life and career to help the man she loved,
willing to do what many women in her situation could not.
In
1995 this vibrant young actresss life was turned upside
down when her husband' Christopher Reeve had a riding accident,
causing him to be paralyzed. Not knowing if he would
even live she stayed by his side day and night until she
knew he was going to stay on this earth for a few more years.
Dedicated to her love for him she stood by and helped him
in anyway she could.
Together
they rose up! Enduring painful therapy, tests upon
tests and uncertainty they knew they had to make a difference.
Together they created The Christopher and Dana Reeve
Paralysis Resource Center (PRC). http://www.paralysis.org/site/c.erJMJUOxFmH/b.1169107/k.BE3A/Home.htm.
This foundation has made such a difference in the lives
of so many.
In
2004 Christopher succumbed to illness, but Dana prevailed
determined to carry on her husbands legacy. Even when
struck with the news that she had lung cancer, she continued
on. Brave in the face of fear, she never stumbled.
Even up to her last moments on this earth she never lost
her grace.
When
Dana finally crossed over I hope her superman was waiting
for her to hand her, her wings. She deserves them.
Its just heartbreaking that our world doesnt
have enough Dana Reeves. If we did, this world would
be a much easier place to live in.
Thank
Dana, you will always be our angel!
